S.O.U.L. - The Storehouse of Universal Lessons
The Question: What is Soul? How do we get to it? What is it filled with?
Often we don’t question because many of us are too busy and comfortable
in our physical, mental and emotional states to be curious enough to
question where we are, who we are and where we are going. Not to
mention many of us were taught not to question anything.
When
we don’t stop to question our lives begin to fill up with unnecessary
things, such as beliefs. Our bodies, minds, lives and quite literally
our souls are filled with clutter. The question that can begin to
awaken us lies beneath the clutter of our souls.
Q. What is your soul filled with?
Awareness comes when we are curious and question. Awareness brings insight.
Insight: seeing inside of the Soul and understanding who we really are.
Insight in the dictionary is defined as the ability of a person to
understand and find solutions to his or her personal problems. While we
travel, we will run into problems along the path. These problems are to
be examined and not looked over. When they arise, either internally or
externally, by being curious and asking questions we will find wisdom
in our soul, which will move us through the problem and not enable us
beyond the problem.
Insight
is the fire that keeps us moving forward. They ground us and keep us
alive. They are essential to our process of growth. They come from
within, and like a well of wisdom sit in our being. They surface when
we need them and we don’t question them, for we know they are truth.
Our process does not have to be as hard when we follow the gentle
stepping-stones to guide us. Without them we are directionless and
stuck.
Insights
are our stepping-stones. Stone-by-stone we come closer to the truth of
who we are. We expand just a little bit more with each step.
Sacred Space
Many
of us have dug ourselves a deep and dark hole, filling it up with all
the things we no longer need. But this space is also filled with all we
do need to move forward in our lives.
We
often say we want more time, but I think what we really want is space-
sacred space to be who we are, and also who we are not. For so long we
have not had enough space for us to get to know ourselves, which means
not enough space to get into our dilemmas and our shadows, which is a
necessary part of our spiritual progress. I remember Deepak Chopra
saying on his PBS special, A Happiness Prescription that cancer cells
are cells that don’t know how to die. In our effort to stay the same,
gripping onto what cannot last out of fear, we have not allowed parts
of ourselves to die. When we don’t allow parts of ourselves to die, we
become clogged in our minds, bodies and souls therefore,
too clogged to invite in sacred space.
The
main urging of the soul is to breathe, and be free and easy, getting
back to its original state of pure and constant awareness. I had an
equine experience, where we were to talk with a horse we resonated with
about what was going on with us. We could not lie because the horse
could sense the energy going on inside of us. The horses can do this
because they, as the trainer said, are quiet on the inside. How many of
us are truly quiet on the inside? Beneath the clutter there is the
quiet, sacred space of our souls where flow and order reside.
